two futures converge on the cinque terre
In June 1998, Roger Andressen and Sally McGrath graduated from colleges located 3,000 miles apart. Clutching brand new passports and Eurail passes, they each boarded airplanes on the same day, one flying from Seattle to Paris and the other from Boston to London, each eager to spend two glorious summer months backpacking through Europe. It was the first time abroad for both of them, and eventually their meandering Eurail journey and love of hiking brought them together on the storied Cinque Terre trail in Italy. This is the story of their love for each other and for Italy that lead, ultimately, to the purchase of a Divviso co-ownership interest in a marvelous stone villa near Riomaggiore, one of the five Cinque Terre villages, with a splendid view of the Mediterranean Sea and less than a mile from where they first met in the summer of 1988.
